It was very rare that Twisted Fate got drunk. He pretended to be drunk all the time – it made it a lot easier to run a con if someone wasted out of your mind – but he usually kept himself from getting carried away. But as he sat at the bar, planning his next big scam, he saw a sight that stopped him cold. Wearing that red dress he loved and heels that could kill a man (literally), Evelynn walked into the club as if she owned the place. Why she was there, why in that dress, he couldn’t say. But suddenly he realized he hadn’t danced a single step since the day she broke his heart. Even after he turned his back to her, he could still hear the click of her heels and see every step in his head. She was on the dance floor alone, when he should have been there with her. She still danced just as gracefully as he remembered.
“Hey, barkeep! I need the strongest drink you got.”
The Gambler no longer knew what time it was. He guessed he drank about a bottle an hour, but first there were six bottles in front of him and then there were only four. Or maybe there were eight? It didn’t matter. Evelynn was gone, had been for hours, but Fate could still hear her voice in his head. “Ey, keeper…’nother drink,” he slurred.
“I think perhaps you have had enough,” came a voice from behind him.
Fate looked up to see Lee Sin sitting down beside him. The monk was wearing his black shades and flower shirt, a drink in his hand. There was a look of concern on his face. “Lee? Whut’re you doin in a Noxin bar?” he asked.
The monk gave him a confused look then, pausing before he answered. “My friend…you are in Ionia.”
Now it was Fate’s turn to be confused. It took him a lot longer than it should have to realize he must have teleported himself to another bar without even knowing it. He really had had too much to drink. The conman slumped down onto the bar and Lee placed a hand on his shoulder. “Are you alright?”
Twisted Fate shook his head slowly. Lee wondered what he could do to help when Fate jumped up suddenly, wrapping his arms around the monk and sobbing into his shoulders. “Ah might be a con artist, but luv is the real con. I only ever stole hic gold. An’ jewels. An’…an’…well I stole a lot! But I ain’t ever stole anybody’s heart!”
Lee froze, trapped in the awkward embrace. He looked around for anyone who could help him, but he was stuck. “There, there…” he said, patting Fate’s back softly. “It will be alright. Even a broken heart can be mended with time.”
Fate shook his head again, closing his eyes. “’S not broke, I told ya’. She stole it,” he said. “Keeps it in a…a box.” The gambler fell asleep in Lee Sin’s arms, leaving him with the task of carrying him out of the bar and getting him home. And leaving him to wonder how much of the drunks ramblings were really true.
Thanks for the lovely fic (\(*q*(\)

This was a scrapped draft that I made before Caitlyn came along. I think I wasn’t satisfied with Vi’s gesture or the simplicity here for such an important occasion, and in the end the extra effort led to everyone’s happiness.
